ABOUT ME

One of the earliest memories I have is spending my weekends with my family exploring Qartaba, a picturesque village in North Beirut set on the mountains of the Byblos district. For me Lebanon represents the land promised to us by God - the promised land - a land rich in natural resources, divine beauty and cultural magnificence. It is my upbringing in Lebanon that has shaped my values of honour, integrity, education, humility and excellence. Throughout my life, I have developed the art of utilising these values to help connect with the Lebanese diaspora all over the world and help shape a better future within and outside our promised land.

I was born in Lebanon and graduated in Business Administration and Finance at the Sagesse University of Beirut in 2010. My education journey continued where in 2018, I obtained a Masters in Marketing. By 2020, I had made my way over to Australia where I completed my Masters of Advanced Accounting from the Torrens University of Sydney. My education journey is only the beginning but one that set the foundations of my drive for reaching ambitious results and giving my best to achieve them. My area of business expertise is accountancy. I am a resourceful leader with hands-on experience performing any kind of operation aimed at maximizing the financial growth of a company.

My aspiration is to use my knowledge to optimize any accounting activity and bring businesses to another level. In a company, I strive to achieve effectiveness, transparency, resourceful interaction and performance optimization. I think critically and strategically, so my strength is to provide strategic exceptional solutions to financial and accounting challenges. I work towards a corporate growth and a strong compliance. I am very passionate in delivering outstanding customer service, in order to drive a business to its success and maximum intelligence. My interpersonal skills allow me to foster productive and long-lasting relations with team members, clients and stakeholders. I am a team player, but I also thrive in the role of the leader.

You will find that my journey doesn’t end there. I am a strong advocate for the Lebanese culture and community. You will find that I am a proud member of a number of local and international organisations urging collaboration and reuniting the Lebanese Diaspora. It is my vision that the Lebanese community will be a strong network across the globe and a force to be reckoned with. This is my dream. Lebanon is my passion. The Lebanese culture is my inspiration.

TIMELINE

Pierre's Career

Pierre El Sokhn

My Goal, As president of UNSCR Committee For Lebanon in Australia, is to work hard on restoring the freedom, identity and prosperity of Lebanon, in order to ensure safety, not only in the country, but also worldwide. I can say I had a great education and experience that gave me the requisites to achieve the goals that I want in life, but without the help of other great people, I would not be here today. I am an achievements setter, so I want to gain even more positive results in my career. The harder I work, the more I get, therefore I want to engage all my knowledge and skills to achieve outstanding results, satisfied clients and new business development opportunities for expanding enterprises. I am sure that with my skills in process improvement, strategic analysis, corporate accounting and astute communication, I will be able to bring great results into my career, but also to Lebanon.

Committee of the United Nations

As the president of UNSCR Community for Lebanese people in Australia, I partnered with several organizations to work together on creating a better and brighter future for the Lebanese population. These organizations are Lebanon Hub, the Lebanese International Lobby, the Lebanese-Swiss Association and the Committee of the united nations security council resolutions for Lebanon. We all want the same outcome: to stop the government corruption and mistreatment of the Lebanese population. Lebanon is my home country and I want to do the best that I can to give back what it thought me throughout the years. I want Lebanon to be a safe and great country for people to live in. The Lebanese population is held hostage by terrorism, corruption and a politically paralyzing war. Their fate has been culturally, politically and economically destroyed. The face of the country has shifted from being the beam of freedom and prosperity, to a swamp of corruption, oppression and socio-economic deterioration. Not only is this an unacceptable assault on the fundamental human rights of life, liberty and property, but it is also a remorseless violation of the Lebanese constitution. Lebanon today ranks the lowest in almost all economic, social and political indicators. However, the situation in Lebanon should interest the entire international community. The country is among the world’s leading hubs of extremism, jihadism and terrorism, proliferating its cells worldwide. Evidence shows that most terrorist attacks in the world are related to Lebanese terrorist groups. Therefore, the full implementation of the UN resolutions is not only a right to the Lebanese people but also a security requisite for the international community.

WLCU

I am the Treasurer and Diplomatic Affairs board member for the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) Geographic Regional Council (GRC) for Australia and New Zealand. My role is to oversee the financial administration of the organisation, review financial procedures and reporting and provide advice to the board on financial strategy. I am also involved in encouraging cooperation between Lebanon and other nations and encouraging initiatives aimed at maintaining peace. The WLCU-GRC is recognised as an international NGO that operates as an independent, non-governmental, non-political, non-racial, non-religious and not-for-profit organisation, duly recognised as a representative of the Lebanese diaspora across the world.

The WLCU was formed to ensure the preservation and the enhancement of the collective contributions made by the people of Lebanon. The WLCU aims to attain each of the following objectives:

  • to enhance, promote and foster the spirit of cultural pride, integration and allegiance of the Lebanese people throughout the Diaspora to their host nation;
  • to share in and promote for the benefit of their adopted nations within the Diaspora in all fields (particularly in education, culture and societal values of the Lebanese folklore and history promoted by the WLCU as a cultural and philanthropic institution on a strictly non-profit basis); and
  • to declare that the WLCU’s Mission Statement is consistent with the principles of the Charter of the UN.

It is my honor to have been elected as a board member of the Maronite Catholic Society (MCS) of Australia. The MCS is an incorporated Maronite organization with an utmost concern to assist the Eparchy in promoting our Maronite tradition and heritage. We work His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay to fulfill the Eparchy’s vision at all levels, be it, to sow the Maronite spirit in the minds and hearts of the upcoming generations.

The Society works:

· On the Lebanese level, in fostering vital links with the cultural roots of our ancestors,

· On the Australian level, in nurturing inculturation of Maronite values into the Australian society,

· And on the Eastern level, in encouraging dialogue with the other Eastern Churches.
